Air intake heater 2666103, also known as a grid or manifold heaters are used to pre-heat the combustion air to the required temperature to aid cold starting. Used as an alternative to glow plugs to provide quick starting in cold weather. Also, can be used to reduce white smoke (cold emissions), engine wear and battery/fuel consumption during start-up.
